Petrochemical producer

Cash confirmed before the day starts.

A petrochemical producer with 7 entities and 10 currencies built its cash position by hand. We built a treasury system that turns each morning’s bank files into a confirmed position, with a forecast that learns from each miss.

Clients are not named, and identifying details are withheld or changed to protect their confidentiality. Each case illustrates the work rather than giving an exact account of it.

The problem

What the old way cost them.

Each entity filled in an end-of-day spreadsheet by hand. Treasury consolidated those sheets into a weekly forecast that missed by up to 50% at month-end.

What we built

What the system does, outcome by outcome.

  • A daily cash position by entity, bank and currency, built from the prior day’s bank files.
  • Late, missing and duplicate bank files are flagged against each bank’s cutoff.
  • Each difference between a bank file and the ERP is named, with its account and amount.
  • The forecast explains each variance as timing, amount or assumption.
  • Minimum balances are watched for each entity, and a projected breach is raised days ahead.
AI and people

Where AI works, where people decide.

Rules

Statement checks, control totals and minimum-balance limits are fixed rules.

Predictions

The cash forecast and each projected breach are predictions. The forecast learns from each miss.

Generation

Agents read each bank’s file format and draft the morning treasury briefing.

People decide

Each alert and task has a named owner in treasury. Accounting fixes the ERP, and treasury works from the confirmed file.

Governance

How it’s governed. Every step on record.

Celara runs under the agents. Treasury’s objectives are computed live from the platform’s events, and each one traces to the rule, the decision and the person behind it.

  • Cash confirmed by 07:30 is an objective, checked against each morning’s files.
  • Statement gaps and ERP breaks are objectives too, named the same morning.
  • Any objective opens to its rule, its decision and its owner.
What changes

What the system does every day.

  • Cash is confirmed by 07:30.
  • Bank file gaps are flagged the same morning.
  • Each forecast miss is explained.
  • A balance headed below its floor is raised before the date.
